Surgeon

Doctor Delius (the surgeon) just came to speak to us at 8:45. He is on his way back. They are finally getting done with the prep work (getting all of the crazy lines in). They need to put in her IVs and arterial line. They are going to put the arterial line in the opposite side of her neck this time, so if it affects her the same way it did the last time, her opposite side will be weaker. (That's not why they are doing it, but my thoughts were it could help and maybe equal her out.) For those who don't know, during McKenzie's first surgery, the arterial line caused her to lean too far to the one side and it ended up leaving half of her body weaker than the other side. She has been working to overcome that ever since. So, maybe this time she will even out. We expect she will go on bypass in the next hour. Dr. Delius says it should take at least 5.5 hours after that depending upon the amount of scar tissue.

Heavenly Father,
Hold McKenzie in your arms today. Her her surgeon steady hands and clear mind, give her entire medical team your wisdom and timing.
Give her strength and sweet dreams.
Give her family peace and hope and help the time to pass quickly. Let their faces be shining with joy when they see McKenzie, after surgery, knowing her heart is finally at the place to heal and work the way it should.
