McKenzie is resting comfortably now. She's being kept sedated so
she doesn't rip out anything important, her artial line springs
first to mind. Her night and moring were a little eventful. The
Versed and Fentinil meant to keep her quiet was working
sporatically. At one point she was arching her back and planting
her feet as though she were trying to leave her bed. Can't blame
her, but it became necessary to give her meds to paralyze her as
well. It wasn't the best of options, and now she's on
Chlorohydrate, an oral, long lasting sedative that should keep her
resting as the staff slowly weans her off of oxygen and other meds
and allow her to find her own balance point.
She is an angel sleeping and we know that she'll be one angry
customer when she starts to really wake up. But a feisty attitude
is what has gotten her this far, and both of us are waiting to get
back our stubborn little girl.

Sounds like she is a toughie, hanging in there like her usual
self. It's good to hear she still has her spirit. Praying you are
all able to keep her comfortable and she can heal quickly!
Heart hugs,
Laura and Lily

This sounds so much like Jilliann's 6 month surgery. We too
ended up on the Chlorohydrate, but they waited till she had arched
her back, bucking like a bronco for 2 weeks. I am so glad to hear
that they are making Mckenzie comfortable. I know how hard it is to
go through all this, soon she will be your little spitfire again,
crawling all over getting into things. What a wonderful site that
will be- right! Take care and Heart hugs, Joy and Jilliann cp

We are praying for you guys at Mott too. Would love to come and
see you guys and finally meet you. Ethin is doing well enough that
I would be comfortable to leave him for a few hours if you would
like a visitor. They paralyzed Ethin a lot in the last few weeks
but you already knew that. Let me know about coming. Praying for
you guys and sending love and hugs your way, Jessica

Wow- that sounds exactly like Cassidy. After her last surgery
she was on the Chloro and they had to put weights on her arms too
so she would stop pulling her IV out.
That's so true about their feisty attitudes. Izzy's feisty attitude
is what will get you guys home really soon.
Take advantage of the great ICU care and get a cup of coffee, hold
hands and take a walk. You deserve a moment to yourselves.
