McKenzie must be feeling a little bit more comfortable with the
removal of her chest tube. The drainage had been down to just about
zero last night making it possible to remove one more Borg
implant.
After rounds this morning, Dr. D determined it necessary to make a path towards getting rid of the breathing tube. Although her Versed and Fentinyl had been weaned down to 2 and 2 from the original 5 and 5, Chloral Hydrate seems to have been building up in Izzy's system over time. More and more time had to pass until she worked her way out of sedation, and she had not been working very hard to breathe over the volume of air provided for her through the ventilator. Thus, Versed as well as the CH have been discontined. It will probably not be until this evening until she really starts fighting her way back to consciousness, but it is something I am really looking forward to.
