As Dale's earlier post indicated, Izzy did not really sleep last
night either. So it has been days. When I arrived around 9:15, they
preparing to take her down from imaging. They wanted to get a good
baseline of her perfusion to her lungs. This is necessary since
McKenzie's right pulmonary artery is much smaller than her left.
They want to see the amount of blood that is being supplied by both
and in the future, they can do a comparison when (and if) there are
problems. She needed to be totally knocked out for this procedure
so she wouldn't move. The drug worked (for the most part) and even
though it wears off in 10 minutes, she is still sleeping. It is not
the best sleep since she wakes up once every 20 minutes crying, but
she doesn't really open her eyes and she falls back asleep
again.
Her chest x-ray revealed that her left lung is having issues again. So, other than sleep, the goal is to get her sitting up and moving about and lots of chest PTs. They started the Xopenex again as well.
Mhy lunch date is here, so I will leave. Keep Izzy in your thoughts and lets hope her lungs clear up for good. Thanks,
Melonie
