Our Little Tortoise

Izzy is slowly getting better. We tried to get her moving more quickly last night by removing the nasal canula, but that didn't work. It was causing her nose to bleed a lot, so we took it out, but after 1/2 an hour her sats were in the 60s. Even for Izzy, that is too low, so back on the oxygen she went. Around 5:00 tonight they dropped the oxygen by 1/3 because she was satting in the upper 90s while she slept (sats are at the lowest when sleeping). That brought her down to mid-80s, which is her norm. Then she woke up and was satting at 99 and 100. That is too high, so we had them drop it again. When I left she was still awake and satting in the mid-90s, so hopefully, she will stay high while sleeping. If so, then we drop the oxygen more!

She is eating too! Izzy had at least 2 ounces of 27-cal formula at every feeding today and had close to 3 ounces each time. We are getting there slowly, but surely.

And McKenzie is balancing herself more now too. She slept a lot, but she also got up and played. Obviously, her sleep is much more productive than it had been. While she can't stay awake for too long, we are getting more glimpses of our Izzy. It is so nice to see our baby back. Yesterday, she was talking a lot, but it was obvious she was yelling at everyone around her. She was telling us all off and not letting anyone get near her. She would fling her arms at us if we got near. Today, she was not so angry. She still flings her arms at us when we suction out her nose or force her to do something she doesn't want, but it is not the constant angry noises coming out of her mouth.

Today was Phin day for Dale and I. He has been acting out at school because of the lapse in his routine, so my dad stayed with Izzy and Dale and I took care of Phinney. It was needed too. He ended up having a fever and needed snuggle time because he wasn't feeling well. His fever broke during his nap and then he was Phin again. He is definitely Phin now. This is the first time this week that he didn't fall right to sleep after we laid him down. He is laying in his crib right now singing to himself. I have no idea what song it is, but he is very cute. Normally, I would not be happy with him staying up so late, but its very good to know he is feeling well enough to fight sleep.
