Home Free

Izzy is free!!!

At 4:15 Tuesday evening, my mom took the O2 off Izzy. She has been breathing room air ever since with sats in the mid to upper 90s. She is still gunky, still breathing hard, and still needing breathing treatments every 6 hours, but she is on her way home. (Just in time for a nap!)

Daddy and Izzy just before being released from the hospital. June 17, 2009.
Thanks for all your support during this unexpected and long hospital stay. We appreciate it more than any of you can know. Hopefully, it will not be repeated any time soon. Practically speaking, we know it will probably happen again, but maybe the asthma meds will prevent a quick repeat. Even Dr. Doshi's fellow (?) said she was looking forward to the next time she saw Izzy because she would be talking like crazy by then. (She took care of Izzy last November and was very surprised at how big she had gotten.) I reminded her that we didn't want to see her again since that would mean Izzy is hospitalized. She changed her statement and said when she sees Izzy at the grocery store, Izzy'd be talking. That slip clearly shows the mindset of the docs: it is not a question of will this happen again, but when. That is okay. They can think what they like, but we're going to keep her from being hospitalized as much as possible!

I'll wish you all a good weekend and next week too, since I don't want to have to update anymore. No updates means all is going well and we are living life and enjoying the summer (between the rain storms)!

Mel

I think you should do updates when all is well too. Just a little blurb to let us know how she's growing and playing.
