Rock Star

McKenzie went back to school this morning and they were completely shocked. They expected her to be in the hospital since they saw her last on Tuesday morning when she looked awful and guant, not moving, and not Izzy. Today she was talking and had many firsts. She was waving hi and bye with purpose. She sat at the table with the big kids to eat snack. She had her first finger foods! She didn't know how to get them to her mouth since she can't do the pincer grasp yet. She put the snack in her hand and couldn't get it out of the closed fist. She was copying the speech therapist with her sounds, including mama and dada. As she was leaving, they said bye-bye and she said baba. Then, I asked her if she wanted her bottle back and she said baba. It is so exciting! She was a rock star!

Way to go! SOunds like she is doing great. Keep it up. We can relate to the pincer grasp. Our son had a stroke after his last open heart and until he could figure it out and get those muscles built up he would just look at the food and wonder how he could get it up there without compensating with the other hand.
