McKenzie is miraculously better today. She looked like a completely different kid when she woke up. She was alert, happy, and she ate. She wasn't pink, but she wasn't as blue as she has been. Yesterday, she only had 16 ounces of formula for the entire day. By noon today, she has already had 17.25 ounces. The cardiologist couldn't explain it. Her first inclination was that McKenzie was having SVTs again now that she is off the Digoxin and Amiodorone, but after checking her out and talking to me, she doesn't think that is the case. Now, she doesn't know. She believed what I told her, but all she could see was a happy, smiley baby. She did hear a slight difference between the two lungs, so we did many chest x-rays (Izzy wouldn't lay still). Blood was drawn as well. She will call me as soon as the results come in. McKenzie's sats were slightly lower than her baseline (78 to 83), but that is to be expected now because she had been growing before the last week. With the cath two weeks away, we just have to wait. We have protocols in place if something should happen between now and then, but the cardiologist just wants us to keep her healthy in the time period.

Thank you all for your concern, thoughts, and advice. It is greatly appreciated.

Glad you were able to see the cardiologist, they are usually the most helpful if no other signs of a bug or virus. The cardiologist do prefer that you see primary care physician or pediatrician first and rule out infections or a virus before you see them. When there appears to be no underlying cause, then I feel more comfortable with the cardiologist diagnosis since they understand these kids. I don't take mine to the cardiologist if I know he has a virus, out of respect for others there, because I know how difficult it is to keep these kids healthy, and how fragile they can be. We even try not to sit in a waiting area of primary care offices, if possible. Sometimes we sit in the vehicle if it is busy with a lot of sick people. At one time we entered in the back door when Vaitor was smaller and more fragile. This office now has another area that they allow us to wait in during a bad virus season. You will get funny looks from other people in the waiting areas when you appear to them to be overly cautious at trying to keep their germs from your child. This may be something you may be concerned with in the future. Hang in there!!! You're doing great, and we will be praying for you guys as you wait for the next cath. cp: littlemanvaitor

Once again McKenzie shows us what a determined little person she is. Things get tough and she fights through them time and time again. I wonder where she gets that tenacity from??
