McKenzie has been "stable" for over 24 hours now (at least she had been when I called before going to sleep at 10 pm.) Her color is looking much better. Her feet are a gorgeous shade of pink! She has been awake a lot, checking out the world. Her biggest problem at this time is swelling, which we were told to expect. Her poor little belly is very disdenened with fluid and her eyes are so puffy that they are partially covered. The docs and nurses are getting her to urinate more, so hopefully the swelling will subside quickily.

The day after her surgery, even through the drugs, McKenzie was trying to take control of her world by grabbing the tubes! She managed to get ahold of her blood pressure cord that wasn't being used, so we let her keep it.
Thank you ALL for your good thoughts and the love you are sending to McKenzie. We know it is helping a lot.

Melonie

Little girls
Melonie and Dale,
I learned about 31 years ago how much little girls are fighters. Some fight to get into this world early, right Mel! Others, are fighting everyday to get well. Our McKenzie is beautiful and a real fighter. My thoughts and good wishes are always with you guys and you know I will do anything to help you. I love you with all my heart. Of course you know I am doing a collective love that always includes our little Phineas too.
Love,
Ma
