The Feeding Tube Dilemma

McKenzie saw her GI doc yesterday. It has been a month since she was in and she weighed less than her last visit. The doc did not like that very much and was going to order a G-tube be placed in her belly. Luckily, he was not aware of her decision not to eat for a week due to her cold. She has a one month repreive. If she does not gain weight well enough by September 15, he will have a g-tube placed and keep it there for at least a year. Even if she does gain weight, he wants it placed during her next surgery. I guess if it will help that is all that matters.

On another note, Izzy has truly discovered her feet. Last night, Dale and I watched her for several minutes as she grabbed for her feet and brought them to her mouth so she could suck on the toes. Just as she would get them close, the feet would fly out of her hands. She kept trying over and over. It was adorable! She never got the feet, but apparently, she has been getting them at day care.

Every milestone is a beautiful thing! It's so cute when they find their "little piggies"!
I know exactly what you're going through with the eating issues. It's frustrating. If she's happy- that's all that matters. There is plenty of time for her to catch up on gaining weight. Try not to stress out- just enjoy her.
