Cute, cuddly, and ready to go outside. June 20, 2008.
The new formula appears to be working. Izzy no longer has blood in her stools. Unfortunately, she is still not eating enough. We would like her to get at least 18 ounces a day (almost 500 calories) and yesterday she kept down only 10.75 (less than 300 calories). That is the best day so far, but not nearly enough. She continues to lose weight. We haven't put the feeding tube back in because we know she'll never eat then because she won't be hungry, but that day seems to get closer all of the time. And the hardest part is that she is happy. And how can she not be getting enough food if she is happy? And even more perplexing, when she has the tube and she is getting "enough" food, she is not as happy. That just doesn't make any sense! We will keep the page updated if she has to have the tube back because that will be a mini-surgery because it will be placed in her belly. I want to minimize the number of hospital stays, no matter how short.
