We were given a not so nice Christmas gift. Phinney woke up
crying at 5:15 a.m., quickly followed by a bout of vomitting. After
20 minutes or so, he seemed to have calmed down, so we tried to lay
him down in our bed for more sleep. (He went to sleep 3 hours late
on Christmas Eve due to the excitement.) Within minutes of laying
him down again, we were rushing to the bathroom. The poor little
guy was sick the rest of the morning and couldn't keep anything
down. Finally, by 11:00 it passed. It passed right onto Izzy. She
was sick until a couple of hours ago. Her illness was passed onto
me. Both kids have now managed to keep down a meal and I'm just at
the stage of venturing a glass of Vernors. Hopefully, this illness
will not be passed onto anyone else, but luckily it seems to have a
very short life span. Even more luckily (and I'm crossing my
fingers on this one), Izzy didn't seem to get nearly as sick as
Phin.
Even though the kids were sick, they had so much fun. McKenzie sat in the middle of all her new toys smiling and laughing. She didn't know what to do first. It was incredibly cute! Phin was pretty sick during present time, but he had a lot of fun too. His favorite toy was a giant Mr. Potato Head with three little Potato Heads inside him and almost every imaginable plug-in piece. He played with that the most. Of course, Phin got the book "Horton Hears A Who" so we could diversify our collection of Horton books to two. (Horton is Phinney's favorite thing these days. He goes around singing "Horton the elephant, Horton the elephant" all of the time.) Papa had to read the new Horton book for Phinney before naptime. We had already watched the movie, which was a gift on last Friday's snowday.
Unfortunately, due to illness, Phin has not had any cake today and he didn't have any at his two Christmas party's yesterday. Luckily, there are two more Christmas parties to go and a birthday party. I'm sure he'll find cake (and be healthy enough to eat it) before the end of the weekend.
Merry Christmas to all!
