| Just home from her operation, but still happy. July 13, 2008. |
McKenzie appears to be healing. At least, she appears to not be
in as much pain with each day that passes because she cries a
little bit less. I was thinking for a while there that they had
switched babies on me at the hospital. Before Izzy's surgery she
was happy and never really cried. After her surgery, all she was
doing was sleeping and crying and she wasn't calm unless she was in
her swing. We couldn't hold her, we couldn't do anything, but leave
her alone. This morning, however, she was very happy and alert. She
kept smiling and kicking her feet. When I handed her a dolly, she
held out both arms and grabbed it, bringing the feet right to her
mouth and she made the wonderful baby noises of delight. (Thank
you, Amy, she loves that dolly.) Hopefully, she will keep this up
and Dale will have a quieter day than yesterday.
Unfortunately, she is also not eating as she did prior to her
surgery. She is eating less than 10 ounces of formula per day. She
is improving with each day though so we continue to be optimistic
that she will not have to go back on a feeding tube. I know I was
warned about the feeding issues blue babies have and DiGeorge's
babies have, but it is still a shock to see how little she eats.
Hopefully, she will not have lost too much weight when she goes to
see the doctor tomorrow.

Things are getting better....
Hi Mel and Dale,
Little McKenzie is doing very, very well considering what the poor
little darling has gone through. All of those things that you are
experiencing with her are completely normal after surgery. She WILL
continue to get stronger with each passing day now....her pain
level will decrease and her appetite will pick up when she is
ready, it just takes time.....bless your hearts, you've ALL been
through so much. You continue to be in our prayers, keep looking to
God, He will see you all through this, b e l i e v e ! Love to
all...Aunt Char xoxoxo

All the Best to You!!
Glad little Izzy is seeming to be happier. It can't be easy going
through what she is. She's a strong little one and we know
everything will turn out great. Keep up the good work. We know
you're doing everything right!!
