Bronchitis & More Surgery?

Izzy continues to be sick. She had to go back to the doctor yesterday. And after an antibiotic shot, she got much better. We were able to ease off the breathing treatments (we were doing them every 3 hours and she went 6 hours today without one). Izzy's fever has been gone for about a day as well. She continues to cough and have lethargy. We tried to get her moving around today and all it did was cause a huge coughing jag that took her sitting down for 15 minutes to calm down. Turns out, she has bronchitis.

Surprisingly, with the extent of Izzy's lung disease, this is the first time she's had bronchitis. Her oxygen continues to remain low and her heart rate high, but not quite as bad. Hopefully, tonight she will get really good sleep and feel more like Izzy in the morning!

In other news, we heard back from Izzy's ENT today regarding the results of the CT he had done of Izzy's temporal bones. Izzy's tympanic membrane (ear drum) is thickening and the ENT is afraid that she may have skin growing behind it due to her frequent perforations. This is likely the cause of her rapid decrease in hearing function. Izzy's ENT says we can't wait this issue out and it needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. So, we now have another specialist to see--a neurotologist and surgeon. Basically, a surgeon who only works on the ears. We see him in a week or so. I'm not looking forward to meeting with a new surgeon, but hopefully, he'll be a smart surgeon who considers more than slicing and dicing.

Oh My Goodness!!! I'm away less than a month and so much has happened!! God bless precious little McKenzie!!!! and of course her precious, loving family. Thank you so much for the beautiful pictures! Thank you so much for sharing your miracle child with us! Izzy is most definitely your "mini-me" -- the picture is adorable!!!! Love the darling new haircut!!! Izzy is simply a little doll -- I want one just like her!! LOL! Of course the daunting health news is overwhelming, but her spunk is amazing and she is such an inspiration!! You guys are such wonderful parents and are doing such a wonderful job to keep Phinny's life balanced and your little diva's life as healthy and stable as humanly possible. You guys are amazing!
