Thumbs Up

Izzy had three doctors' appointments this week and saw four of her specialists and all four were amazed at her appearance, attitude, and growth (12 pounds 11 ounces and just shy of 24 inches long). The gastroenterologist was so happy that he said McKenzie staved off the g-tube and he allowed McKenzie to start solids. The endocrinologist said she was doing very well and lessened her medication load. And her cardiologist shares an office with those two specialists and stopped in to see Izzy. She was very happy and took an oxygen reading. Izzy was in the mid-80s! Everyone was amazed at her playfulness and her big smiles. She met with the immunologist today and passed that exam with flying colors. Her T cells were only minimally low, so Izzy was taken off the bactrim. YEAH!!! She is down to 7 meds a day.

Dale fed Izzy her first rice cereal yesterday and the first bite was a success. The next couple were not as easy because she pushed the food out with her tongue, but it is all a learning experience. We get to continue introducing foods to her like a normal baby as long as we stay away from anything with soy or dairy. I missed the event, but Dale has it on video to share.

We meet with the Early On professionals again on Friday to finalize the plans and turn in our paperwork, so Izzy should begin classes next week. Everything seems to be falling in place. Now, if we could only find 3 or 4 extra hours a day, we might be able to start getting our house back to normal again too. I guess that will have to wait until McKenzie is at least down to 6 meds a day :)
