KINDERGARTEN

Despite this day being exceedingly long and tomorrow morning coming way too soon, I had to share with you the joy of Izzy's first day of kindergarten.

Izzy is ecstatic to be a kindergartener. She has been counting down to today since Phin first started two years ago. Last night was even declared "Kindergarten Eve"! And today was indeed the holiday of Izzy's dreams (despite Phin forgetting that he promised to play with her during the after care program).

Here is a picture of Izzy on Kindergarten Eve.

Right after she protested the fact that these pjs were not winter pajamas, she told Dale that she was the cutest and smartest kindergartener EVER. He told her that he she was the cutest and smartest to him, but she corrected him and said "EVER". Seriously, where does she come up with this stuff?!? This morning, Izzy began to become nervous ball of worry. At first, a pretty pink dressed helped her. Then she became scared again, so I gave her kissing hands. That helped for a little while until she decided that the kids were going to laugh at her. When we assured her that wouldn't happen, she was fine for a little while. It was a big tennis match. In the end though, once her shoes were on and backpack in hand, she was all smiles. See for yourself in the photos taken at home before. (You'll note that Phin did not want me to take his picture for quite a while.)

Both kids were dropped off at the before school program and had no issues. Izzy was all smiles.

Then, my wonderful friend Erica snapped pictures of Izzy for me at the kindergarten line-up and when she spied Izzy throughout the day. It was wonderful to see how well Izzy was doing. She was still smiles long after mommy had left!

When I got to the school though to meet with Izzy's teachers and principal, Izzy was frowning on the play structure. Apparently, Phin refused to play with her and she was sad about it. Dale and I were able to cheer her up enough to meet with everyone no problem though. Luckily, I had forgotten her new Skippy Jon Jones book from this past weekend's ER trip in my car, so I had something special for her to read while the other kids played on the playground.

The meeting with the teachers went very well. I'm very excited for this year and so are Izzy and Phin. They both loved their teachers and are very excited to go back tomorrow. I can't ask for much more than that!

I also told Dr. Cutler (cardiologist) about Izzy's ER trip. She thinks Izzy probably had an arrhythmia. And as long as it doesn't happen again, she does not need to be seen before September 27. Fingers crossed because we have never made it to the actual date for Izzy's appointment and have always had to go in on an emergency basis. I would love to do something normal for once (even if it is a cardiology visit for my 5 year old).

And in case you all were wondering what an Izzy eats to celebrate a holiday such as KINDERGARTEN, she of course had Mexican food--shrimp quesadillas to be exact (although she didn't eat the tortillas). Then we ended the night with chocolate ice cream at Izzy's request.

(No, he didn't eat all of that.)

We hope your first day of school was exciting as our own.
 Happy KINDERGARTEN everybody!!!

Mel
