Last 2014 Update

The old saying goes: "no news is good news" and there has been no news here since before Halloween. In our case, it's been mostly good news. Izzy hasn't had the same type of pain she suffered in October and despite influenza hitting our house, Izzy was spared (thanks to tamiflu and vaccines!). And the holidays were wonderful for us. We savored every moment, every memory. We did not send out holiday cards, however. So, if you think we've started to dislike you, don't take it personally, we couldn't get it done this year. I never even managed to snap a photograph of the kids that I thought worthy of a card. I will post pictures that I *did* get below.

Unfortunately, Izzy stopped eating again in December. We can usually get one good meal in, but forget about breakfast EVER. She is not complaining of pain, but just not hungry. She is getting nauseated in the car again (which makes it difficult to drive any distance). We are saddened by this, but are trying to do what we can. An unfortunate side effect of all of this non-eating through the fall has been that Izzy has not grown at all. Literally, for all of 2014, Izzy grew about 1 inch and still weighs under 35 pounds. Yes, she remains itty bitty (please recall that Izzy will be 7 in a 2.5 months).

Other than that and the mountain of questions we had about the Santa revelation I last posted about, our holidays were normal. Izzy has had multiple ear infections and a lot more difficulty hearing, but there is nothing more to be done there for now (other than treat the infections). Izzy is also suffering from frequent eye pain. We believe that is a side effect of her pulmonary hypertension medicine (sildenafil). We will be talking to her cardiologist about that in a couple weeks at Izzy's check up and then with her ophthalmologist.

Otherwise, Izzy remains the same, which is good. Dale and I would be happier if her belly didn't blow up like a balloon, with veins popping out, and we'd rather she didn't tire easily, but that (apparently) can't be helped. So, we enter 2015 in an okay place.

I'll end the update with photos through the end of 2014. We'll start where we left off-Halloween!

Getting ready for Daddy-Daughter Night with the Daisies!

Enjoying Daddy-Daughter Night like only a daddy and daughter could enjoy it!

Thanksgiving came next and Izzy planned the day. It was Izzy's Thanksgiving Party. We had a disco ball for dancing, turkey cookies to decorate, pin the hat on the pilgrim and pin the beak on the turkey. How many of you had such a fun-filled Thanksgiving!

04

Right after Thanksgiving, we decorated for Christmas. Izzy found the dress from when she was a baby in the boxes. This is a picture of her wearing that dress!

05

It wouldn't be our life if we weren't at a doctor's office at least 4 times a month. Here is Izzy goofing around while waiting for the PCP to see her brother!

The picture below was at the school's Barnes & Nobel night.

06

B&N night was a great night. Izzy ended up getting to sing on a stage for a crowd that night. This link ("Let It Go" by Izzy) takes you to a video of the song. There were several dozen people watching her by the end. It was fantastic (and a complete fluke that she got to do it)! Izzy loved every minute of it. She had always dreamed of singing on stage!!!!

That picture was taken the morning of the school holiday parties. Izzy had to wear the biggest, pinkest dress she owned.

This picture below was the last day of school: PAJAMA DAY!

Praying only the best for you in 2015! Great pictures. Izzy looks so grown up, even if she's petite. Lily is still a peanut too, despite her OHS repair. She turns 7 in two weeks and barely cracks 35 lbs. Maybe 38? The best things come in small packages ;-) I'm constantly inspired by your family and the grace you've shown under this insurmountable pressure. Always the best,
Laura and Lily Grace Davenport
