Izzy had her regular checkup with her cardiologist today and it
went well! Dr. Cutler was happy and even told us there was
improvement! Granted, Dr. Cutler prefaced every sentence with
things looked good for Izzy, but she said they looked
good. I take that to mean, for someone in heart failure, staying
the same is good. The overall pronouncement was Izzy has once again
maintained status quo and no need to change anything!
In more detail, Izzy's right atrium still sucks (and to my uneducated eyes still appears almost non-existent on the echo screen--not non-existent, but the walls so thick as to obscure any chamber). Izzy's right ventricle is looking better--not as puffy and big as 6 months ago. Izzy's tricuspid valve is now considered to have minimal to moderate leakage rather than moderate to severe. The conduit and right pulmonary artery are open and flowing well. The left pulmonary artery can't really be seen and is assumed to be abysmal, but that is still normal.
The one negative comment actually made today was that Izzy has not grown. That is not news to us. Izzy hasn't even grown a millimeter taller in the last 6 months. Dr. Cutler's response was "You are as big as your heart." Which I took to mean that it is not surprising that Izzy isn't growing. Her heart just can't work well enough to support growth. Thankfully, Izzy looks proportional and has aged; she's just very, very short.
We don't go back until this summer! We can't ask for more.
Thanks for checking in on us and I will end with some highlights from the last two weeks,
Mel

Phin and Izzy goofing around drawing monsters.

Izzy with her pink hair for crazy hair day at school!

Striking a pose with her pink skirt and animal outfit!

Sporting her new bow.

Selfie with mommy.

I couldn't pass this one up because she was so cute! Her picture to try and get people to buy her girl scout cookies.
