Another School Year

My last post was the last day of 7th grade and we are now heading into the third week of 8th grade. Three months between posts, but I don't usually feel like anything post-worthy has occurred.

Izzy did work with her teacher all summer. Izzy has been writing her own series of fairy tales. She has 8 books in her series so far. The work has been very tiring, but rewarding. We haven't been permitted to read yet, but the stories promise to be fantastic.

Izzy editing her stories on her phone and using the special straw her nurse suggested when Izzy didn't want to take time from editing to drink. (The straw usually works to get Izzy to drink or it did the first week or two.)

Thankfully, we did get Izzy's dagger and sword stabbing chest pains under control. Unfortunately, every night for at least two weeks (except Wednesday), Izzy has had extreme leg pains. Addressing pain seems to be our constant job.

Izzy did get her Covid-19 booster since she is immune compromised. We're hopeful between the three shots, her immunoglobulin infusions, and precautions (Dale, Phin, and I wear masks when out and about), Izzy should remain safe.

The best news is that Izzy saw the ENT this week for a 6 week follow up because she had had yet another infection. This time though, the ears were clear of infection. And Izzy doesn't have to go back for 6 months!!!!! 

Other than that, we've lived fairly low-key this summer. Izzy got to swim once and she did make it to the Jim Henson Exhibit.

Izzy's new gown.

It was finally cool enough this week for Izzy to lay in the yard and look at the clouds, day dreaming.

And today, our annual photo at Erma's.We ate ice cream for Izzy.

Next week, is the Detroit Congenital Heart Walk. It is one of Izzy's favorite days of the entire year. I failed to announce this year's shirts here earlier, but you can come as you are and Izzy will be so happy to see you. She had a goal of personally raising $1000 this year for the Walk.
